Patrick van Aanholt of Crystal Palace scores the winner against Stoke to relegate them from the Premier League on Saturday.
Stoke City lost 2-1 at home against Crystal Palace and relegates in Championship after 10 years in premier League.
This was their 13th game without a win, so nobody can complain Stoke players are unlucky to be going down.
Stoke took the lead once again with a deflected Xherdan Shaqiri free-kick and once again blew it. Stoke have surrendered 12 points from winning positions since Paul Lambert replaced Mark Hughes in January.
James McArthur levelled for Palace after 68 minutes soon after Lambert had withdrawn Peter Crouch in order to defend their lead and catch the visitors on the break. Patrick van Aanholt’s winner after 86 minutes was the final nail in the coffin, profiting from a mistake by Stoke captain and longest-serving player, Ryan Shawcross.
A deflated Lambert, who arrived in January after signing a two-and-a-half year contract, said afterwards: ‘The emotion of the game is still there so it’s difficult to answer things. I am gutted for everyone at the club, the supporters, it is a brilliant club.It will need a strong rebuild. At the top end of the pitch right, it has not been good enough. We have lacked not just a scorer but creativity.’
The best players Xherdan Shaqiri, Joe Allen, Butland and January signing Badou Ndiaye will want to leave and the club will do deals if the money is right.
