Your wallet and pocket are places that provide little security for condoms. It is therefore not safe to put a condom in your pocket or wallet, whatever the reason.

According to experts, the friction and temperature involved in these two storage locations; are risks to the quality of the condom. "Heat, humidity, friction and light can affect the quality of condoms and make them less effective," Karin O’Sullivan, Clinical Manager of FPA, a charity specializing in health, told Metro.co.uk sexual.

Wallets and pockets tend to be too hot for condoms because they are too stuck to your body that gives off heat. When condoms are exposed to heat, the latex weakens, exposing them to the risk of rupture. Then you add friction and your condoms become even worse in quality.

A back pocket is sometimes prone to a lot of friction, when you walk, or you sit down. The wallet is opened regularly, and will cause the same problem to the condom, especially when it is in the same part as your cards or your money. You also run the risk of putting your condoms in contact with sharp objects, such as your keys, which could create a hole small enough that you do not notice it.

A holey condom is not a safe condom. The wallet and pocket are not the only places to store condoms. You should also avoid keeping condoms in your bathroom closet (moisture can cause damage), on the windowsill, in direct sunlight, in shoes or in the glove box.

"Condoms should be kept where they can not be damaged by strong heat, sharp objects, light or wet," says Karin. "Ideally, a bedside table, but it would also be acceptable to carry condoms in a purse, such as an old tin can or a small silk bag".

"An isolated compartment in your wallet could also do the trick, but be careful not to leave the condom too long. "Some condoms are also designed and packaged to be stored in a wallet, for example, packages that are more robust or packaged like a credit card. "
